Fall Classic Final Game Captures Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canada and Japan Markets.

The nail-biting 11-inning clash where the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays by one run drew a total over 50 million viewers in the United States, Canadian, and Japan markets. MLB stated this represents the most-watched World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s epic game secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It additionally stands as the top-rated World Series matchup since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent increase over the last finale between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed 4th, the fourth game was seventh, Game 5 was eighth, and the third game landed in thirteenth position.

International Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the game recorded over 11 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English-language broadcast in Canada after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it attracted 12M. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – averaged 13.1 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series averaged 15.71 million viewers on the Fox network, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance after 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded audience increases for two straight seasons.

Counting the opening game broadcast on Univision, the total American viewership was 16.1 million. The total Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09M watchers, an 8% rise over the previous year and Fox’s best postseason performance since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in sixteen different languages.
